Pots fired in Different Kilns

The ceramics I make fall into four distinct categories, distinguished primarily by different methods of firing.
All the pots are thrown on the wheel but they are fired in four different kilns: gas, anagama, soda and electric.

noodle bowl

Gas kiln

Noodle bowl with gilded walnut.

Pots glazed with a variety of carbon trap shinos and reduction fired to 1280 C.

stoneware jar with shells

Anagama kiln

Stoneware jar with shells.
The anagama kiln is in the Charente region of France. It is five metres long and is fired with wood over five days and nights to 1300/1320 C.

jug with copper glaze

Soda kiln

Jug with copper glaze.
I am planning to build a kiln with Joe Finch in Ewelme in the Autumn.

oak leaf teapot

Electric kiln

Tin glazed stoneware. Oak leaf teapot.

I fire tin glazed stoneware in the electric kiln, also to 1280 C.

“Many of the pots I make are designed for daily use but I also make ceramic fish, tall bottles, tiled tables and large jars for the garden.”
